Greystones is a grand baronial style house in the heart of Oban, with simply breathtaking views from its elevated location, over Oban Bay and the Inner Hebridean islands beyond. Period exteriors contrast with the minimalist feel inside. Spacious rooms are contemporary in style with plenty of original art and large windows allow the light to flood in. Bathrooms are large, modern and luxurious and come equipped with complimentary toiletries from Scottish Fine Soaps. Breakfasts are superb and feature plenty of Scottish produce from locally landed smoked haddock to the homemade fruit compote. It's a grown up place (strictly no children allowed) and the ideal base for a cosy romantic break, or for more outdoorsy types who've come for the walking and many other activities which are on the doorstep.

Why do people love staying in your hotel? Our guests tell us that they love the traditional house juxtaposed with contemporary interiors, the stunning sea views and our extensive breakfasts. What is there to do in the area? Oban is ideally placed as a base for day trips in the area, whether to the islands - Mull, Iona, Staffa (for Fingal’s cave), Kerrara, Lismore – or for driving tours (Glencoe in particular) to soak up the amazing scenery. What kind of breakfast do you offer? We have a wide range of choices for breakfast (which is pre-ordered the night before, to allow us to offer the best choice and minimise wastage). We have a buffet (fresh fruit salad, homemade compote, greek yoghurt, muffins, fruit juice, cereals) as well as a choice of cooked breakfasts (full Scottish, Vegetarian, scrambled eggs and smoked salmon, smoked haddock and poached egg, kedgeree, spinach and parmesan frittata, smoked haddock and parmesan frittata, cheese plate). Our porridge (traditional, whisky/ brown sugar, apricot/almond/honey or raspberry cranachan) is also popular, especially the whisky one! We source our produce locally, wherever possible. Do you offer other meals? And can you recommend good places to eat out locally? We don’t provide meals other than breakfast but there are a number of award-winning restaurants within a 10 minute walk from us. Our favourites are www.coastoban.co.uk, www.eeusk.com and www.waterfrontfishouse.co.uk. There are also a number of informal options available, including Italian, Chinese and Indian cuisine. Which are your most popular room types, and why? Our most popular room is our Sea View Turret Suite, which is a unique turreted room with panoramic views. Our other sea view rooms are also sought after. Even our only room which doesn’t have a view has a wealth of traditional features (marble fireplace, ornate cornice, timber panelling) so guests are not disappointed with it. What facilities do you have for children and can you fit extra beds in your rooms ? All our rooms sleep a maximum of 2 adults and we are not able to fit extra beds in the rooms.
