About Noosa
Set on southern Queensland's spectacular Sunshine Coast, Noosa is a favourite destination of keen surfers and outdoor enthusiasts. Foodies and fans of cracking craft beers will be in their element in the picturesque Noosa hinterland, where unspoilt landscapes also abound with opportunities to hike, mountain bike and see rare wildlife. Whether perched in pretty seaside towns or tucked in the tranquility of the wilderness, the best places to stay in Noosa are intimate and characterful, reflecting the region’s laid-back spirit.
Noosa’s rich biodiversity is protected and much admired. The Noosa National Park, for instance, is a UNESCO-recognised Biosphere Reserve, home to a dazzling array of marine life as well as stunning coastal tracks taking in hotspots such as Tea Tree Bay and Little Cove. Ramblers and hikers will be in their element. The Noosa Everglades, on the other hand, will thrill kayakers and sailors, who can meander along the waterways, glimpsing black cockatoos and pelicans in the lush foliage. The Great Beach Drive is another highlight for taking in mesmerising views and wondrous wildlife — this time from your 4x4.
If you’re in Noosa for the surf, the area from north Sunshine Beach to the Noosa National Park headland is blessed with brilliant breaks — recognised as the 10th World Surfing Reserve. Learn to surf at Noosa Groyne, or hone your skills at the famed Points and the more remote Double Island Point, where turtles and dolphins glide through the shallows. Head into charming little towns for terrific seasonal fare at lively cafés, and cold crafts beers at family-run bars and eateries. The region also has a wonderful wellness focus; unwind with a massage or yoga class at one of the best places to stay in Noosa after a big day of adventure.

- Like much of Queensland, Noosa has two seasons: the warm, dry season — from April to September — and the hot, wet season, between October and March. Visit during the warm, dry season if you can, avoiding the school holidays for great hotel deals. Surfers will find great waves year-round, but March and the autumn months tend to be best for warm waters and quieter breaks.
