About Champoluc
Champoluc is the largest resort in the Monterosa ski region, and probably the largest resort in the Aosta Valley too. Its known for its huge skiable area - around 180kms of piste, and exciting off-piste terrains, and for its breathtaking glacier views. For our Gurus the best places to stay in Champoluc seem to fall into one of two categories, atmospheric chalets with incredible views, and fantastic resorts purpose built for skiers, bikers, hikers and the like. Champoluc offers plenty in between as well, especially within the charming alpine village, where there are traditional resorts, simple chalets and lovely, family-run hotels, and along the mountain road out of town, where there are larger resorts.
Champoluc has lots of opportunities for anyone just starting out on skis, and for skiers looking for off-piste adventure, and helisking opportunities. Champoluc is also a good pick for snowboarders. Our Gurus recommend the best places to stay in Champoluc to families too, partly because of the incredibly varied ski terrain, partly for the spectacular setting, and partly for the pleasant villa, where there are plenty of places to eat out, but it’s not too lively.
In the summer the climbers, mountain bikers and hikers are the ones looking for the best places to stay in Champoluc, still benefitting from the spectacular backdrop, and well located facilities. Some of the the long ski runs translate directly into long mountain biking runs. The Monte Rosa Massif is the centre of activity, and an impressive goal.
