About Marazion

Situated on the edge of picturesque Mount's Bay, Marazion is a popular destination on Cornwall's couth coast with its gorgeous golden sandy beach and wonderful views over to St Michael's Mount. The town is also within the Cornwall Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and close to a RSPB reserve. However it's a small town so the accommodation options are slightly limited. Our pick of the best places to stay in Marazion includes a luxury B&B and a family friendly beach front hotel.

Marazion is ideal for families, with both clean sandy, and ideal rock pooling beaches, and plenty of action on the water from windsurfing, paddle boarding and kitesurfing to sea kayaking. Marazion is just a few miles outside of Penzance, and a short drive from the Tate, St Ives, Land’s End, the Lizard Peninsula, and the Eden Project, so there's plenty for those interested in a spot of culture and exploring further afield.

There’s a vibrant local community of artists and sculptors who keep the local galleries and boutiques going, and a healthy collection of cafes, bars and restaurants for all tastes and budgets. As you'd expect the best places to stay in Marazion are exceptionally busy especially during the peak summer months. Do your research and book well ahead to avoid disappointment.

The Best Places to Stay in Marazion

For the Views

  • The Godolphin Arms is fantastically positioned, right on the beach, directly opposite St. Michael’s Mount. It has just 12 rooms and suites, all simple, light and well equipped, and decorated in the colours of the beach. It’s also got a friendly bar, and a restaurant specialising in Cornish cuisine and local seafood. The best of the family suites have balconies with sea views, and there's also a special dog-friendly room.

Best B&Bs

  • Ednovean Farm has been charmingly transformed from a farm into a cosy B&B. It has just three rooms, all with a country chic feel, private terraces and romantic details. There are also mature gardens, where they will serve your hearty breakfast if the weather allows. It’s just a short stroll from an excellent selection of bars and restaurants. Adults only.

Travel Information

  • Marazion’s closest airport is Cornwall Airport Newquay, which is about 50 minutes away by car or taxi, or about four hours by public transport. Exeter Airport is about two hours away by car or taxi, but it’s still five hours by public transport.
  • If you want to hire a car we recommend you visit our online partner, Rentalcars.
  • Considering it’s southerly spot and very tropical-looking flora, Marazion doesn’t get the heat you may be expecting. Summers here are short, cool and windy, with temperatures that rarely go above 25°C, but the other seasons are mild too, with even the coolest midwinter temperatures hovering around 5°C. You can comfortably visit out of season — however we recommend you confirm the opening times of St. Michael’s Mount and anything else you definitely want to see! And whenever you visit it’s a good idea to pack your wet weather gear. The rains can roll in very quickly here.
