The Dordogne is famous for its produce and cuisine, and for its imposing châteaux and manor houses (quite a few of which have been converted into overnight accommodation). At the more modest end of the scale are bijou châteaux, turned B&Bs or small spa hotels, and at the grand end of the scale are opulent, five star châteaux, still steeped in all their regal glory, compete with original artworks and antiques — but usually with a beautiful pool and impressive contemporary facilities as well. We've scoured the area and discovered some fabulous old properties many with gastronomic restaurants, and all with charm and history in abundance.
