About Bhopal
In the heart of central India, Bhopal is a city of beauty and contrasts. Rich in culture, and home to a number of large scientific and industrial enterprises, the capital city of Madhya Pradesh offers visitors a great mix of sights and relaxation. From complex temples to lush nature parks, there are enough attractions to keep visitors busy for days. Accommodation options range from heritage properties to sleek city hotels, with the best places to stay in Bhopal promising easy access to the area's top attractions.
Start with a pilgrimage to the 11th century Raja Bhoj, an incredible 32-foot statue situated at the Upper Lake of Bhopal. Pay homage to this founder of the city while taking in the panoramic views of the lake’s surroundings. Close-by, you will find the Birla Temple complex and its associated museum, as well as Sair Sapata — the "fun park" — providing an array of attractions and activities, including musical fountains, suspension bridge, a toy train and a two-acre play area. Perfect if you are visiting the city with kids.
For panoramic views, don't miss the Tekri Viewpoint. Or, for nature photography, head for the tranquil Van Vihar National Park, set beside the Upper Lake. A home to many migratory birds, it’s a great spot for birdwatching and wildlife spotting. Foodies will find plenty of delicious offerings to try in and around the lake. Top it all off with a sunset at the Upper Lake View Point, it's unmissable!
