Located close to Rajasthan’s Pali District, the little town of Kumbhalgarh is home to a not so little fort, second only to The Great Wall of China. Commissioned by Rana Kumbha of the Mewar dynasty it is a fortress of epic proportions, some 36 kilometres long. Dating back to the 16th century Kumbhalgarh Fort is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site and boasts some impressive Madan architecture. An easy drive from Udaipur it makes for a wonderful visit outside of one of Rajasthan’s major cities.
