About Boscastle

Boscastle is a small village set on Cornwall's north coast. The whitewashed, and pleasingly irregular, houses around the harbour offer more typically Cornish charm, and you can see why Boscastle has been a favourite of artists and authors: it’s small, peaceful and beautiful. The best places to stay in Boscastle are all ideal if you’re looking for somewhere to escape to to do some creative work, but they’re also ideal for walkers, surfers and for families.

The South West Coast Path runs right through the village, so walkers are well catered for. Boscastle is also within the Cornish Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It’s just south along the coast from lively Bude and beachy Widemouth Bay, and just to the north of historic Tintagel and pretty Port Isaac, so it makes an excellent base for exploring the region. The church of St Juliot, which is famous for being the place where Thomas Hardy met wife, Emma and the Museum of Witchcraft are both worth a look too. The National Trust own, and protect, much of the land around Boscastle, including the incredible waterfall at Saint Nectan’s Glen, and the great blowhole called the Devil’s Bellows.

Don't forget that this little village gets incredibly busy during the peak summer months and school holidays. So if you want to guarantee a room in one of the best places to stay in Boscastle, get organised and book well ahead.
