About Portrush

A seaside resort town on Northern Ireland’s Antrim Coast, Portrush is a wonderful destination for a fun family holiday or golfing break. Accommodation options range from simple self-catering spots to smart luxury hotels, fit for a whole host of tastes and budgets. Many of the best places to stay in Portrush are within easy reach of the sandy beaches and striking coastal scenery, ideal for soaking up the sunshine and enjoying the great outdoors.

Portrush has long been popular with Northern Irish holidaymakers, as well as visitors from further afield. The town boasts three long, sandy beaches — the West Strand, East Strand and White Rocks — as well as a promenade and a number of lovely little harbours. There’s also an 18-hole golf course, the Royal Portrush Golf Club, which has hosted The Open Championship on several occasions.

For cultural travellers, there’s the Ulster Folk Museum and the Dunluce Castle & Tower, perched dramatically on a cliff above the sea. The Giants Causeway is also nearby. If you’re travelling as a family, look to the many water activities on offer — from sailing and kayaking to surfing and paddle boarding — or head inland for horse riding and mountain biking.
