Brach

A view of Paris is a prized commodity, especially because of this city’s beautiful low-rise construction. In amongst it this means that the building you’re in is very likely to be surrounded by buildings of a similar height, obstructing your view — it’s lucky Paris has so many charming views to look out on! But, oh! if you can get up that bit higher and see the city laid out in front of you, its great monuments poking out above the townhouses, well that’s really something. Which is why so many of us are looking for the best Paris hotels with a balcony or terrace. Some of the recommendations in our list of the best Paris hotels with a balcony come with quite a price tag, but one that’s probably worth it if you value that outside space above all else! But we have also found some real treasures that don’t. And we really think having that view all of your own will really make your visit special.

20 of the Best Paris Hotels with a Balcony

The Best Balcony Hotel Rooms in Paris

Hotel Le Meurice

  • If you’re looking for the best hotel room with a view in Paris see what you think of the Hotel Le Meurice’s Belle Etoile Suite. For the full panoramic view you need a vast terrace and an excellent spot to put it in, and the Hotel Le Meurice has both, sitting grandly opposite the Tuileries, overlooking the Louvre, the Eiffel Tower and the elegant monuments and townhouses of Paris. But there are plenty of beautiful views from the other balconies and terraces in the hotel too. There are 160 rooms and suites, and they’re as lovely inside as they are out, with decor that harks back the the grand styles of the 18th century. The Bar Fontainbleu is romantic and the Versailles-themed restaurant has a Michelin star.
  • Luxurious and glamorous, but contemporary with it, Brach is a fantastic choice if you really love a great view. From its swanky, 16th Arrondissement address, the majority of Brach’s 59 rooms and suites have floor to ceiling windows offering great views of the city, and if your room isn’t high enough to catch the whole skyline then head up to the rooftop bar and garden, complete with a kitchen garden that supplies the restaurant. One of the suites even has a hot tub on its balcony! And below ground there’s a spa, sauna, gym and pool.

Shangri La Paris

  • For opulent, five star luxury and Eiffel Tower views from your private balcony go to the Shangri-La Paris, and stay in this turn-of-the-century townhouse with a two Michelin-starred restaurant. There are 100 rooms, and plenty of choice when it comes to size and features, as well as numerous balcony or terrace rooms to choose from, but all have beautiful, colonial-feeling decor with plush fabrics and heavy drapes.

The Best Balcony Views

  • In a gorgeous Art Deco building in super spot in the 17th Arrondissement, the 82 room Le Tsuba is just far enough away from the Arc de Triomphe so that it can offer you a view of either that, or the Eiffel Tower — and some rooms offer views of both Paris landmarks. The rooms to book are called Prestige, and you can specify your view of choice. Inside, the hotel is extremely elegant, with a minimalism meets Art Deco aesthetic that equates to geometric details and a muted colour palette. There’s also an elegant hotel bar, a terrace and a spa and gym. And while there’s no restaurant they do offer breakfast, and you’re just off the Champs Elysées, so there are plenty of places to eat and drink nearby.
  • The Hotel de Sers is a classic 19th century Parisian mansion converted into a 52 room hotel and offers a sense of calm, despite its central location. Its rooms and suites are a contemporary reflection of Parisian chic, and while some have their own little balcony, some have a huge private terrace with panoramic views of the Eiffel Tower! But there’s a chance for a balcony room even at the more affordable end of your choices. There’s also a spa with a sauna and hammam, a popular restaurant and a chic, candlelit, wood-panelled bar that’s even more popular, especially come cocktail hour.

Paris's Most Romantic Hotel Balconies

Hotel Providence

  • In a peaceful spot not far from the Seine, just off a quiet lane in Saint-Germain-des-Prés, you’ll find a romantic and surprising retreat: the Relais Christine. We think surprising because its position is so central, but it has so much space, including a lovely courtyard and gardens — some of which ‘belong’ to the garden suites. This hotel looks more like an elegant country mansion, from the sumptuous armchairs, arty coffee table books and honesty bar in the relaxed lounge, to the to the basement where grand 13th-century vaults house a Finnish sauna, hot tub and Spa Guerlain, and the 48 opulently decorated rooms and suites. And it’s not just the garden rooms that come with outdoor space, from the Superior Double level upwards they offer rooms with a balcony or private terrace.
  • The top few floors of the Hôtel Providence are where you’ll find the best rooms and suites, which have decor which includes a mini-cocktail bar and incredible views of Montmartre from their balconies. This beautifully converted 10th Arrondissement townhouse is now a ‘proper’ boutique hotel, with hand-selected antiques and designer pieces mixing with flea-market treasures, and plus House of Hackney fabrics and wallpapers. There’s also a romantic bar and restaurant, helping to make this a real Paris bolt-hole.

The Best Boutique Hotels with a Balcony

Hotel de Banville

  • If you want a balcony with a view your choices are somewhat limited in low-rise Paris. What you need is to get up on a slight hill. Like that of the 17th Arrondissement, for example, which is where you’ll find the Hotel de Banville. This Art Deco era charmer has just 38 rooms, and is chicly decorated in a very French style, from its smallest room to its largest rooms and suites, and its in these deluxe rooms and suites that you’ll find the balconies and terraces. This is a really friendly hotel and great for families too.

Paris’s Most Luxurious Hotels with a Balcony

Hotel Lutetia

  • If you’re coming to Paris to treat yourself to something special then the Hotel Lutetia, with its incredible elegance and great traditions of hospitality and the best of French design is difficult to top. This hotel opened in 1910, and the best of Paris design over the last hundred years is visible here, from the beautiful parquet to the vast windows and delicate, Art Nouveau facade. It has 231 rooms, and there’s a big range with a private terrace or balcony. The hotel also has three restaurants, including one headed by a chef with three Michelin stars, and an incredible spa.
  • The Hotel Le Burgundy is a five star hotel with 59 designer styled rooms and suites and one of the most stunning hotel atriums you’ll ever see. The design of the pool room, the bar and the Michelin-starred restaurant are all impressive as well, and the spa is state of the art. The rooms are well proportioned and very comfortable, with confident use of colour and well placed art, and there are a good selection with a private balcony.

Le Bristol

  • Le Bristol certainly has a reputation for luxury and opulence, and its position, on the elegant rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré, reflects its prestige. But this hotel is far from fusty or stuck-up, its 188 rooms are light and airy, with big windows — and plenty of choice if you want a private balcony or terrace, and pale coloured walls and linens, which some lovely antiques and original artworks are set against. And the atmosphere is warm and friendly, from the hotel staff to the vibe in the two restaurants: one which has three Michelin stars, the other has one. And this hotel has the only rooftop pool in Paris. And a fantastic kid’s club. And a hotel cat.

Paris's Best Design Hotels with a Balcony

Parister Hotel

  • Paris is rife with graceful, historic hotels, but if your tastes are more contemporary then the Parister Hotel offers modern Parisian chic, in 45 rooms and in the chic restaurant and cocktail bar, in the pool area and on the terrace. The 10th Arrondissement location is central, and well located for bars and cafes, etc., and you’re about a kilometre from the Paris Opera House and the Galleries Lafayette. The larger rooms and suites are the ones with the balconies, and while the views aren’t spectacular, they certainly make the rooms even more appealing.
  • Outside the Hotel Balmoral looks like quite a traditional Parisian hotel: in a beautiful Haussmann building on a quiet street, just metres from the Champs-Élysées, but come inside and you’ll see the well chosen bright, contemporary design elements and modern art. There are just 50 rooms and suites, and it’s the Balcony Suites you need to book if you want some outdoor space. There’s no restaurant, but they do offer breakfast, which would be very charming to have on your private balcony. Their family suites are well arranged and the position is hard to beat.

  • The Hotel Les Bains is a beautiful conversion of a 19th century private baths in the heart of the Marais. You’ll be especially keen on this hotel if your tastes run to mid-century Danish-style decor and vintage glamour. There’s still an underground pool here, and there’s also a nightclub. Its 39 rooms and suites are spacious by Parisian standards, with comfortable seating areas, dining space and bathrooms with big roll-top baths. The suites also have balconies, which look out onto the hotel’s central courtyard, which is carefully overrun with plants. Some of the standard doubles have balconies too, you just have to ask when you book.

1K Hotel

  • In the super cool Marais district, the 1K Hotel is a super cool design hotel with a super cool cocktail bar with a plunge pool. Think Austin Powers meets A Clockwork Orange and you’re halfway to getting the vibe. The 52 rooms are, you guessed it, super cool, and two of them don’t just have a private terrace, they have a private terrace with a plunge pool. Some of the other suites have regular terraces and balconies. But they’re still super cool.

Balconies Paris’s Left Bank

  • Le Placide Hotel is an intimate, 11 room boutique hotel in beautiful, fashionable Saint-Germain-des-Prés. As well as the location, one of the great features of this hotel is the generous room sizes, and the large windows allowing in lots of natural light. Rooms with balconies and terraces are even better for this, and the designer, Bruno Borrione, contemporary of Phillip Starck, has really made the most of it with his choice of colours and materials. There’s no restaurant but you’re surrounded by great cafes and bars.
  • Close to Le Placide Hotel, the Hotel Duc de Saint-Simon is also small and intimate — it was formerly a private home and still has that sort of feel to it, with plush, traditional feeling interiors with memorable wallpapers, and room service instead of mini-bars. There’s a beautiful courtyard accessed through French windows and this is where the rooms that have terraces open on to as well.
  • Also in Saint-Germain-des-Prés, the Hotel de L'Abbaye offers traditional sophistication to match its surrounds. It has 44 rooms and suites, and it’s the duplex suites which have the private terraces with views over the rooftops of Paris. It also has a charming, leafy courtyard just outside a conservatory dining room where breakfast is served. There are also a number of salons to retire to before bed, and it’s all very elegant and grown-up.
  • In a charming, historic spot close to the Luxembourg Gardens, and surrounded by cafes, boutique and small museums and galleries, the Hotel de Saint-Grégoire, is a small, family-run, warmly decorated and intimate feeling hotel. Of its 20 rooms the best have a small private terrace. And they’re all very reasonable for such a charming location.

Affordable Hotels with a Balcony

Mob Hotel

  • The Mob Hotel is a boho bolt-hole with some great ideas on how to make accommodation individual, comfortable, beautiful and affordable. There are 90 rooms in a huge range of shapes, sizes and prices, and there’s plenty to choose from if a balcony or terrace is one of your accommodation priorities. The interiors are colourful and eclectic, but still fairly minimal, with a few clever ‘pieces’ in each room. The other pros. are the location, close to the Saint-Ouen flea market, the comfortable family suites, the courtyard space and the organic farm-to-table restaurant.
