Midtown Village is a vibrant neighbourhood in central Philadelphia, home to the iconic 'Gaybourhood', with its fabulous nightlife, as best experienced on Locust Street. Then there's 13th Street, lined with boutique shops and quirky cafes, walls erupting with street art and whimiscal murals — one of the coolest, most Instagram-worthy places in the city. Midtown Village is so central that it's near everything else — including the historic centre — so major historic sights like Rittenhouse Square are within easy walking distance and you can easily get to the Avenue of the Arts, with all its theatres, galleries and live music venues. If you're looking for somewhere snug and discreet in the heart of the 'Gaybourhood' buzz, check out Inn on Camac — a cosy, self-service inn above a popular bar on the corner of Locust Street. Set in an old colonial building, with light and airy rooms, it's right in the midst of the nightlife. It's also within walking distance of the historic old town and Rittenhouse Square. Roost East Market is best if you want an independent option — it's a collection of stylish apartments on Market Street.
