“A chic boutique resort offering eight heritage wooden houses with romantic interiors. A colourful mixture of calming Malaysian tradition & decorative fabrics plus fabulous bathrooms, many with outdoor wooden tubs! Lush gardens with pool & plenty of loungers. Foodies will love the fusion restaurant.”

Hotel review

Langkawi is regarded as the most beautiful island in Malaysia and the Bon Ton is the perfect boutique hotel for experiencing it in all its glory. The Bon Ton, nestled in a private compound, is made up of eight Malay villas centred around a verdant garden and pool. The wooden villas are 80 to 100 years old and each has a different story to tell: one was an old fisherman’s hut, another belonged to a Malaysian nobleman. But don't worry, despite their antique heritage, all are equipped with modern luxuries whilst effortlessly retaining an authentic feel. The huge four poster beds and wooden bath tubs are a particular highlight and ideal for anyone looking for romance! Each villa has a veranda or terrace overlooking the tranquil gardens, the perfect location for enjoying the continental breakfast which is placed in your fridge the night before. The Bon Ton has a real community feel to it (the staff are particularly friendly and welcoming), and at the top of the drive is an arts centre and café, the proceeds of which go towards the nearby local animal shelter (note for those not so keen on animals, you can hear the dogs barking from time to time and there are a number of cats roaming around). The restaurant is the beating heart of the resort where guests can hang out and play cards with a cold drink or for a quiet afternoon indoors, you can relax and enjoy a good read in the resort’s library overlooking the lagoon. The Nam Restaurant serves fusion food — the local speciality ‘Nyonya Style Rice’ is superb — traditional chicken satay, beef rendang and pickle all served on a banana leaf. Location wise The Bon Ton couldn’t be better, a 10 minute taxi to the airport and 5 minutes to Pantai Cenang beach which offers a whole range of water sports, bars and restaurants. Ideal for a romantic boutique stay in a very convenient location.
