For a home from home experience in the quieter side of the Algarve, Casa Flor de Sal is an exceptional find. Created with family holidays in mind, this 250 year old property has been beautifully restored to create seven individually designed houses which accommodate from two to six in one and two bedroom units. Interiors are cool and chic done in a smart combo of Scandi design and Portuguese tradition. So you'll find local Portuguese tiling complementing simple Danish style furnishings, and lovely modern bathrooms with spacious walk-in showers and complimentary toiletries. Each property has a fully equipped kitchen (though only one features an oven), living area and private terrace (some come with roof terrace too) with Weber BBQ and plenty of space for outdoor dining. All also come with a selection of books (in various languages), toys and games.
But where the Casa Flor de Sal really excels is in its fantastic range of activities. As well as two outdoor (fenced) swimming pools there's a lovely natural swimming lake with mini beach, which is a haven for all sorts of wildlife; there's a lovely playground for the little ones and older kids will love the ping pong, games rooms and basketball/volley ball court. There's complimentary yoga classes once a week, bikes and helmets for all the family to borrow, crab racing (yes, really!) stargazing, guided kayaking tours and so much more!
To make your holiday even easier, there's a little grocery store on site which covers most basics, including home-made ready meals (though for fresh meat and fish you'll need to hit the local markets), plus if you pre-order, breakfast will be delivered to your fridge the afternoon before and fresh bread will arrive on the day.
For a quiet, stress-free family holiday it really doesn't get much better, and owners Martin and Alexandra (and their boys) are on hand at all hours to offer advice on anything from local restaurants to adventurous days out.
Please note that the minimum stay is 6-7 nights during high season and school holidays.

Why do people love staying in your hotel? Peace and quiet, without being too far away. Comfort both indoors and outdoors, and a sense of your own space.
What is there to do in the area or on site? Beach and pools, walks, birdwatching, interesting towns with good local food. Cycling to the nearest village, try yoga in our weekly session. Relaxing in the garden, where the children can play safely and find new friends.
What kind of breakfast do you offer? If you have ordered breakfast, the house will be stocked with coffee, teas, sugar and breakfast cereals. Every day during the afternoon we will come and stock your house with breakfast items for the next day: milk, yogurt, fresh juice, varied fruits, eggs, butter, jam, meats and cheeses. Every morning, before 8h30, you will find fresh bread at your door.
Do you offer other meals? And can you recommend good places to eat out locally? In our shop you will find breakfast items, the basics for cooking, a selection of frozen home cooked meals, a small selection of lactose- and gluten-free products, non-dairy milk products, and organic products, lots of ice cream, and a fair amount of treats! There are plenty of great restaurants in the area – in particular if you eat fish and seafood you are in for a treat.
