The Duncombe Arms
The Duncombe Arms already had all the ingredients of the ideal village pub, with a cosy atmosphere, great food and drink, and pretty countryside on the doorstep. Now, with the addition of 10 luxury bedrooms, it’s got the chic accommodation box ticked as well.

The cool hotel guide: The Duncombe Arms, Staffords
The bedside radio is already tuned to Radio 4. We’re in safe hands at the Duncombe Arms. This convivial village pub, in Ellastone on the Staffordshire-Derbyshire border, has just opened Walnut House, a new barn conversion-style annexe across the courtyard with ten rooms. It’s the brainchild of Johnny and Laura Greenall, an engaging and well-connected couple (check the family tree on the bar wall).
