Hotel Review

If you are looking for a centrally located, (two minutes to the Place de Capitole), family run 3 star hotel in Toulouse, the Albert 1er is where to stay. Staff are friendly, quite obviously enjoy their job and are ever helpful - restaurant recommendations, sights to see, picnics to arrange, bikes to hire - nothing is too much trouble. Bedrooms are well put together and comfortable, plenty of hanging space, good quality linen, reasonable lighting and air conditioning. Go for the superior rooms with their high ceilings and extra space in the room and bathroom. Breakfast is ultra fresh and seasonal with an emphasis on local natural prodcts, honey from the Ariege, bread from the Aveyron, yoghurt from Haute Garonne - all chosen with care. If by chance you miss breakfast, you can always stroll to the Marche Victor Hugo (not Mondays) which is buzzing with cafes and restaurants. Afterwards visit the Marche, the beating heart of Toulouse's foodie scene to see and buy the best of the region - meat, fish, charcuterie, patisseries, fruit, vegetables, all fresh as fresh can be and displayed to tempt.

Right in the centre on rue Rivals, this reasonably priced family-run hotel makes a great base. It rents out bikes for €5 a day and can organise a baking course for guests at the patisserie school next door.
