At the highest end of Krakow’s price range, the Copernicus is truly special. Lying at the foot of Wawel Castle in the oldest part of town, it is only a short walk from the centre. In keeping with its location, Renaissance frescoes and carved stone portals adorn the walls and ceilings. The elegant, almost Gothic rooms are furnished with dark wood and velvet. An absolute must-see is the roof-top bar, which offers fantastic views of the Wawel and the roofs of Old Town, and might possibly have been a haunt of the hotel’s astronomer namesake who was a regular visitor to the house. The luxury continues with a grotto-style swimming pool and sauna in the cellar.
