If you like to be right at the centre of the action you can’t do better than the Wentzl, the only hotel overlooking Krakow’s principal square. Main attractions such as St Mary’s Church and Wawel Castle are only a few minutes’ walk away. The hotel which opened in 2000 has been converted from a stately 17th-century house and is home to the fabulous first-floor Wentzl restaurant. Much of the Renaissance interior has been preserved and rooms are individually and beautifully decorated. If you can, get one on the 3rd or 4th floor, not only are they jazzier but the views of the Rynek are that much more spectacular.
