This family-run hotel is quintessentially country house. A curved driveway sweeps gently past ponies in grassy paddocks, punctuated by the grand, creeper-clad mansion that is Kinloch House. Inside, immaculate interiors are swathed in heavy fabrics and decorated with oak-panelling, stuffed animals and oil paintings depicting rural scenes. Bedrooms are luxurious, if a little lost-in-time, with those surrounding the portrait gallery being the most sought after. A genuine warm welcome complements the quiet, relaxed atmosphere. In the evening, dinner is well-executed but a little costly.

"A warm, traditional Scottish country manor. Walls are painted in rich shades, from dusty rose to sunny yellow, floors are carpeted and strewn with rugs, and rooms are furnished with antiques, grandfather clocks, plump sofas and rich fabrics, from fringed damask to floral chintz."
