Hotel Review

Tucked away in its own little world, Maniumpathy is located off a main road and secure behind a grand façade and porch. Built over a hundred years ago, the property has been in the same family for the last five generations and was renovated and turned into an intimate boutique hotel in 2015. The interiors have an elegant traditional feel which perfectly complement the beautiful turn of the century colonial exterior. The piece de resistance has to be the formal dining room with its long ebony table, chandeliers and grand atmosphere. The sitting room has a cosy colonial feel enhanced by the use of teak, jac and mahogany. The delicious food has a hint of Jaffna flavours and you can dine on the terrace overlooking the pretty courtyard garden. The eight suites are filled with artefacts and vintage furnishings - they ooze elegance and romance. Maniumpathy has been designed to transport you to days gone by and it achieves this magnificently with its sumptuous interiors. The small garden has a lovi tree and a sculptured metal ‘nandi’ holy cow surrounding the plunge pool. Its central location means that this property is ideal for those wanting to explore Colombo from a beautiful, intimate, home from home.
