“Boutique eco-lodge overlooking Hokitika River and Southern Alps with four spacious suites. Owner-managed and committed to sustainable practices, this is a top spot for nature lovers and romantics. Close to Hokitika town and the west coast’s only white heron breeding colony. ”

Hotel review

Rimu Lodge is an exclusive boutique eco-lodge, with just four elegant, intimate and tastefully decorated suites in a picturesque lodge. Each has a different colour theme (Kereru and Kotuku are soft earthy colours, Korimako a rich dark blue and Tui lime), is large and has a private outdoor seating area with wonderful views over Hokitika River. The owners are committed to sustainable practices, ensuring green consciences can rest easy in the knowledge that extensive recycling, composting, waste reduction and solar and wind power is in practice. Enjoy the homemade museli and French toast in the morning before you set out to explore the surrounding area, known for its beautiful beaches and walks. Make sure to visit the only white heron breeding colony on west coast nearby and Hokitika town, home to New Zealand's finest pounamu.
