Hotel Review
The original and in many opinion the best of the Shangri-La hotel chain. This hotel group's pioneering voyage into the world of luxury hospitality, their flagship hotel is consistently voted one of the best hotels in Asia. It is a veritable haven away from the hustle and bustle of town. Combined of three distinctive wings, each with a very different feel. The Tower Wing, has floor to ceiling windows with views of the city and a more corporate feel. The Garden Wing enjoys private, bougainvillea-clad balconies overlooking that famous pool. Rooms are decorated in a modern oriental style with earthy hues and accents of red and beautiful artwork depicting local wildlife. The Valley Wing, the oldest of the three, is full on old school glamour. Period features such as ornate cornicing, sparkling chandeliers and the best, imported fabrics. Marble bathrooms have big baths and LCD Televisions. This wing features the largest entry-level rooms in the city and all suites have private butlers. Enjoy the complimentary minibars and champagne and canapés and breakfast at the Summit Room. Rooms and prices differ hugely but if visiting on leisure a room in the Garden or Valley Wing is recommended. You need not leave this haven even to eat with such excellent dining options on site. Enjoy authentic Southern Italian cuisine with chef Marco De Vincentis' heirloom recipes at The Waterfall, international dishes at The Line, gourmet Cantonese cuisine at Shang Palace a la head chef Steven Ng, delectable Japanese dining at Nadaman or opt for an afternoon of high tea at The Rose Veranda. If you are feeling slightly overindulged there is a well equipped fitness centre and tennis courts. Or if this is not your thing then why not unwind at Singapore’s first CHI, The Spa which has an extensive treatment list and facilities. An excellent choice for business travellers, families and honeymooning couples. In short, a fail safe option.
