Hotel review

An exceptional resort hotel overlooking Koggala Beach, set in a walled garden with delightful water features and lush planting. Wake up to Indian Ocean breakers five metres away from your Beach or Ocean Room, but be careful to keep the doors closed to keep out cheeky chipmunks! This tranquil haven has an Ayurveda Spa, a restaurant serving both Sri Lankan and international cuisine, a yoga pavilion and an infinity pool overlooking the ocean. A tuk-tuk will take you to the World Heritage Site of Galle, just 15 kms away, where you can see Dutch colonial architecture and walk the fort ramparts. Also nearby is the Sinharaja Forest Reserve, stilt fishermen at Ahangama and whale watching at Mirissa. The hotel has a sheltered rocky pool for sea bathing and you can walk some five kms along the beach to nearby Thalpe. Rooms come with butlers on call, 7 x 7ft beds, plasma screen, BOSE dvd & sound system, AC & fans. WIFI is available in the hotel lobby area. The Fortress is ideal for relaxing after a hectic cultural tour of the island.
