Why do people love staying in your hotel? The entire hotel is stunning and its location is arguably one of the best in the county. Whilst the surroundings are fundamental, it’s the people within that create its soul and make it live and breathe. We have a vibrant, passionate team of young people, many of whom are themselves local and their service is what truly makes the stay for our guests effortless. What is there to do in the area? There is so much to do here in St Mawes and on the Roseland Peninsula. Sailing is at the heart of the community and there are so many opportunities to get involved on the water. After a day out fishing our guests are often bringing our chef their fresh-caught Mackerel to add to their supper. The kayaks are great fun, and there’s crabbing in the harbour. We will prepare you a picnic and arrange a local rib to drop you off at a nearby secret beach that you can only get to by boat. In the village there are some fantastic boutiques and art galleries, and of course St Mawes Castle with its breath taking views over the Carrick Roads. What kind of breakfast do you offer? Our ‘Chefs Table’ is filled with Cornish yoghurt, berries, homemade breads, pastries, fruit and not forgetting our Idle Mary station, all of which you can help yourself to. Then, to start your day in the right way we offer a full a la carte breakfast from the kitchen with dishes such as ‘proper porridge’ with clotted cream, eggs benedict and local kippers with poached egg. Do you offer other meals? And can you recommend good places to eat out locally? We have a fantastic Restaurant and Terrace bar that is open to hotel and non-hotel guests alike. We offer lunch, afternoon tea and dinner. With sensational seafood at the core of what we do, we source only the freshest and seasonal ingredients locally, prepared with simplicity. We often recommend that our guests visit the hidden hut at Porthcurnick beach only a couple of miles away from St Mawes, lunch on the beach or even a rustic evening at one of their feast events is simply a ‘must’ when here visiting the South coast. Which are your most popular room types, and why? Our ‘Sea Rooms’ are the top category of rooms, they are generously proportioned, many with double windows enjoying the spectacular sea views, and all with wonderful bathrooms. All of our rooms are uniquely designed, meaning that everyone has their own favourite. A lot of our repeat guests like to try a different room each time they stay as they are keen to try out the different schemes. All but 3 of our rooms boast the breath-taking views over the harbour and sea. What message would you like to give Hotel Guru readers?
