Hotel Review
The Nare’s special character lies in its history. Launched in 1988 as Cornwall’s first luxury hotel, country house style, it was the retirement project of well-known Cornish hotelier Bettye Gray. Her grandson Toby took over at the turn of this century and is still at the helm, ensuring that his grandmother’s creation continues to exude continuity, tradition, comfort, peace and quiet. Features of the Nare include a chauffeur service for collecting guests from their homes should they not wish to attempt the long drive to Cornwall and a convivial formal dining room, serving excellent classic cuisine, with a requirement to wear jacket and tie at dinner. There are also indoor and outdoor pools, two treatment rooms, a Cornish Crabber and a gentleman’s motor launch for outings on the water and beautiful Carne Beach, perfect for children.
