“The grand dame of Beirut’s hotel scene, The Phoenicia has been accommodating the city’s most glamorous visitors since its inception in 1961. Expect lavish decor, world-class facilities and excellent people-watching.”

Hotel review

This storied five-star hotel has always taken centre stage in Beirut’s glamorous history, from its days hosting Brigitte Bardot in the ‘60s to its current status as a favourite amongst well-heeled visitors to the city. A $50 million revamp in 2011, which coincided with its 50th anniversary, has modernized the hotel while retaining its trademark grandiose style. Wander through the lobby, decked out with boutiques stocking luxury fashion brands, before reaching an outdoor swimming pool landscaped with pillars, lush foliage and hanging beds to lounge in. Downstairs, the spa and wellness centre offer daily fitness classes, indulgent treatments and a sauna, hot tub and solarium. Only a few minutes walk from the Corniche, a promenade that meanders along the Mediterranean, guests can easily access the Beirut’s delights – or retire to the comfort of their rooms and simply watch the city go by from there.

Why do people love staying in your hotel? Being part of the InterContinental family makes our clientele feel at ease when booking with us. The Phoenicia Hotel is a modern hotel whose more than 55 years of history has made it an icon of hospitality in Lebanon and the Middle East. The majority of our clientele enjoy being in the heart of Beirut, surrounded by a city view and a wide sea view. The Phoenicia’s breadth of facilities and services makes it popular with business travelers as much as families. Having Spa Phoenicia, outdoor and indoor pools, restaurants, lounges, and the business center all on “your doorstep” provides the ultimate convenience to guests. What is there to do in the area? Being in the heart of Beirut, our guests have many options to consider when planning a day out. Zaitunay Bay is only a two minute walk from the hotel, and offers more than 15 restaurants to choose from facing the marina. Beirut’s Downtown district is also within walking distance and is a great place to spend time browsing the luxurious architecture, shops, restaurants and cafés. Within the Downtown area a number of prime sightseeing spots are located, including Martyrs’ Square, Parliament, Nejmeh Square, the Roman Baths, and much more. Nearby to the hotel lies the Corniche, Beirut’s famous coastal promenade, where people love to stroll in the early morning and evening. What kind of breakfast do you offer? The Phoenicia Hotel serves the largest breakfast buffet in Lebanon, held daily at Mosaic, offering both international and Lebanese breakfasts. Do you offer other meals? And can you recommend good places to eat out locally? We have five different outlets in the Phoenicia Hotel: Mosaic (International and Lebanese cuisine), Caffe Mondo (Italian cuisine), Amethyste Lounge (international light snacks), Cascades Lounge (international snacks), and Eau de Vie (International cuisine). At Mosaic Sunday lunch features live cooking stations and offers complimentary access to the Kids Club, while every Monday and Thursday are Sushi night, and every Friday features a seafood buffet. Our variety of options means that guests are easily satisfied dining in the hotel, but should they desire to try local restaurants, our concierge is a mine of information and happily recommends places to suit guests’ tastes and can arrange bookings. Which are your most popular room types, and why? At Phoenicia Hotel: · Premium Room for the sea view · Grand Deluxe for the balcony · Standard Room for the relatively lower prices than the rest (given the city view) · Superior King Room for the city view · Superior Queen Room for the city view 6. What facilities do you have for children and can you fit extra beds in your rooms? We are always happy to accommodate families and can fit extra beds in rooms. The Phoenicia Kids Club is specifically tailored to keep young ones (and their parents!) happy by organizing a range of activities, such as swimming, martial arts, arts and crafts and more. 7.
