“An 1888-built heritage building near Darling Harbour, transformed into a thoroughly modern boutique hotel offering comfort & style in abundance. Centrally located in Pyrmont, the hotel boasts a buzzy Mediterranean restaurant & bar, swish meeting spaces and a fresh design-led feel. Also great value.”

Hotel Review
Incorporating the old and new can be a tricky business, but 1888 has hit the nail on the head with this quirky establishment. The boutique hotel is situated in a heritage listed wool mill built in 1888 and has retained some charming original features (think exposed brick, original Iron, Bark Beams and period windows). The result is a hip, urban, industrial feel without being cold. 1888 was also the year Kodak was born, which is paid homage to in the most 21st century of ways – there’s a “selfie space” at reception, and guests with over 10,000 followers on Instagram get a free stay. Rooms feel spacious and light due to the three-metre high ceilings and bright paintwork, with original artwork by local artists hanging on walls. Located in Sydney’s Pyrmont district, there are a host of restaurants and cafes nearby, as well as Darling Harbour and the Sydney Fish Market within walking distance.
