Hotel Review
The hotel is set in a charming, red-washed building, and commands spectacular views of lush green tropical forest, with the Mahaweli River winding majestically through it. Bedrooms are rustic, a comfortable size with high ceilings and four poster beds with mosquito nets. Most come with balconies or verandas from which impressive sunrise or sunset views can be seen. The restaurant is elegantly understated, with breathtaking forest views, friendly and attentive staff, and delicious food. Choose from traditional Sri Lankan dishes or Western options; dinner is part of a generous set menu. At Villa Rosa you can do as little or as much as you like. Here there is a deliberately slow-paced feel which weary travellers may delight in. The hotel’s friendly and knowledgeable owner, Volker, and his staff can arrange extras such as private yoga classes, massages, local excursions, and airport transfers.
