Devon’s Watersmeet Hotel is a classic seaside hotel, built in 1900, and serving as a hotel since 1914. Obviously it’s been modernised, and fairly recently too, but it retains some of the old Edwardian charm, snd a very seaside-y feel. The restaurant has 2 AA Rosettes and serves classic English fare, and there’s an outdoor pool and indoor spa with hot tub.

For a luxury spa hotel

Boringdon Hall Hotel is a five star country house and spa within the boundaries of magical Dartmoor National Park. There are 40 smart rooms in a mix of traditional and contemporary styles, the best with four-poster beds and free-standing baths, plus an extensive Gaia spa — one of the best in Devon —which boasts a patio with outdoor hot tubs (which you can even book for a private session), and an innovative restaurant.

For romance

The Salty Monk is an award-winning restaurant with seven adjoining rooms in the pretty town of Sidmouth. Some of the rooms are super contemporary — think bathrooms screened off from the room by sheets of glass — and country chic. Adults only. The outdoor hot tub and sauna can be booked for private use.

For families

Dittisham Hideaway is the perfect rural getaway for families who want more of a back to nature vibe. Their Treehouses can easily accommodate two adults and up to three children plus they boast private wood-fired outdoor hot tubs, an array of games, and acres of space to run around in!
The Soar Mill Cove Hotel is a super friendly family-friendly hotel just a couple of miles outside Salcombe, in a beautiful beachside spot overlooking a stunning cove. The hotel has 20 spacious rooms and suites, some with private patios and sea views — the two Ocean View self-catering units also share a private hot tub. They have a spa with a wide range of treatments too, great food and plenty for smaller people to do. And you’re meters from the coastal path.
Bovey Castle deserves to be in several of these categories: it’s a family friendly country hotel with something for everyone. The Hamptons is a collection of luxurious self-catering apartments in a Victorian villa just a short stroll from the beach at Ilfracombe. The villas have chic interiors, with large windows and chandeliers. There’s also a shared garden — where you’ll find the hot tub — and gorgeous views of the coastline.
