Inside the sturdy ramparts of the medieval town of Alcudia, Can Tem can be found a few strides from Sant Jaume church. With traffic restricted to outside the city walls, it's an extremely quiet spot but for the occasional toll of church bells. Guests are given free rein to come and go as they wish. Six rooms are simply decorated with traditional trunks and wardrobes mixed with retro lighting and contemporary art. Antique wooden beds - each 1.80 x 2m, have notably comfortable mattresses, pillows and soft cotton sheets. Bathrooms are spacious and modern. Originally the family home of Toni & Magdelena, the couple converted the C17th manor house into a small hotel 15 years ago after their sons moved out, and now run it as a business. The feel is low key and informal. Continental buffet breakfast includes local speciality emsiamada and is served in the dining room or shady courtyard.
