Hotel review

A former holiday home of the eye wateringly wealthy Duchess of Ferrari, Esencia maintains the same levels of service and clientele as it did in former years; Uma Thurman is a fan. Whilst all rooms are beautiful, light and airy the Deluxe Ocean View suites have to be our favourites for their 360º ocean views. The private cottages are perfect for families if you plan on taking the kids. Let them work their way through the countless activities on offer, from bodyboarding to horse riding, whilst you relax by the designated 'adults only' pool. The restaurant serves fresh, mainly locally sourced cuisine with an emphasis on Mayan and Western fusion cuisine. Be warned, you'll have some serious holiday blues after returning from this tropical paradise!
