“19th century mock-Tudor property set amid stunning 50-acre gardens, offering stylishly furnished rooms. The dining room is spacious and dignified and serves award-winning food. Plenty of activities on offer and a thoroughly relaxing spa. Ideal for a weekend break away from it all.”

Lake Country House, Powys, Wales: hotel review

Today it has all the ingredients of a country resort, modestly served: fishing; nine-hole golf; pool, gym and spa treatments in a modest purpose-built wooden chalet overlooking the lake and river. In the massive drawing room, antiques, stately sofas and family photographs on the piano create the sense of a benign time warp.
