Hotel Review
Part of a prestigious chain of state-run hotels, this Parador was built in 1968 and wouldn’t look amiss in a Bond film – low-rise with boxy windows, its clean lines are a stark contrast to its setting: the wild and windswept Albufera Natural Park. Rooms err on the palatial (with double-sink bathrooms and private terraces as standard), and many overlook the pristine 18-hole golfcourse or the inviting pool, Spain’s east coast sands glimmering on the horizon.
Paradors are known for fine-dining and the restaurant here is no exception, offering classic Valencian dishes including the region’s signature paella. At breakfast, guests can choose from buffet dishes or order a la carte – and sea turtles can sometimes be spotted nesting in the sand beneath the windows.
Don’t miss a visit to the spa tucked into the basement, which has several treatment rooms and a hydro-circuit – all the hotel’s hot water is provided by solar panels installed on the roof.
