Hotel review

Thirty-seven churches and a Roman bridge make Tavira a fascinating place to explore. An historical gem on the Eastern Algarve, it has unique roofs, which turn up pagoda-like. The opening of the Convento da Graça, means you can stay in comfort, within its Renaissance cloisters and above the well-preserved remains of a 12th-century Islamic village. Bedrooms are cosy but compact with glimpses over the famous rooftops. Regional dishes are served in the restaurant.
