Hotel Review
A superlative example of Taj hotel. Falaknuma Palace or 'Mirror of the Sky' is the former residence of the Nizam Mehboob Ali Khan and is still in the hands of Hyderabad's remaining royal family. Enjoying an elevated position of 2000 feet it has 360 degree views over the city. Built in 1894 and designed by British architect, William Ward Marret, it boasts colonial architecture, fine French tapestries and astral Venetian chandeliers. During its construction it was owned by the wealthiest man in India and it remains one of the country's most opulent residences. Whilst the standard rooms are anything but poky the grand suites are truly expansive. Bedroom interiors are subdued compared to guests areas: pastel silks, immaculately upholstered furnishings and polished antique woods. Go for a city view room. Dining options are lavishly majestic - make sure to take afternoon tea in the Jade Room, it is quite the ritual. With indoor and outdoor pools and what are some of the most immaculately maintained lawns you will find, plus an opulent JIVA spa, there are plenty of ways to indulge. A truly experiential stay - you will return to reality feeling like royalty.
