Amathus Beach Limassol

Yes, this is a brand-name hotel. A big fish in the smallish pool of Cyprus luxury hotels, this Amathus (there are others) still contrives to set the standard by which most Cypriot hotels are judged. It’s the Amathus flagship, located just a stone’s throw from the eponymous ruins of one of the island’s great archaeological sites. Rooms have all the trimmings that you could want: fabulous marble showers, fluffy bathrobes and slippers, Bulgari toiletries and easy high-speed WiFi. And the rooms are huge, with balconies and views that go on forever. After dark, sit on your balcony with a glass of fizz, look across the bay to the lights of Limassol and wonder what everyone else is doing, ideally from one of the nine suites which have sea views and private pools. But other facilities include three glorious outdoor pools, an indoor pool, a private beach club, and a couple of truly excellent restaurants.
