“Set on a private 60,000-acre reserve bordering Arkaba Creek, this restored 1850s homestead offers a rare opportunity to reconnect with the natural world. Expect five elegant guest rooms, each with marvellous views. Return from the legendary Arkaba Walks to savour gourmet fare at this hidden haven.”

Hotel review

Arkaba Station is a 63 000 acre sheep farm turned private wildlife sanctuary just south of the Flinders Range. The 1850s built homestay is situated by Arkaba Creek looking out to the Elder Ranges and offers an authentic Australian country stay in magnificent surroundings. Each of the five bedrooms is individually decorated by wildlife artist Rosie Woodford-Ganf, and pays homage to the homestay’s working heritage through details such as rustic heardboards made from old fence posts. The finish is in finer details such as deliciously indulgent organic cotton sheets, sheepskin hot water bottles and magnificent ostrich eggs on display. There’s no internet or phone signal, making this the perfect place to switch off and get in tune with the wild surroundings. Try to spot the rare Yellow-footed rock-wallaby on a bush walking safari or scenic flight. A glorious wild bush luxury experience.
