Rabot Hotel is situated amid the 140 acre Rabot Estate, St Lucia's oldest Cacao plantation. Accommodation has been been created in fourteen wooden clad lodges and luxe lodges, which blend beautifully into their rainforest surroundings. But despite their "back to nature appearance", once inside they feel almost like a New York loft, with airy bedrooms and luxuriously appointed shower rooms! Beds are four poster and draped in muslin. Luxe Lodges benefit from huge verandahs furnished with his and hers sun loungers and stunning views over Petit Piton (the perfect place for sundowners), plus the bathrooms have the biggest rainforest showers imaginable! Great additional touches are fully loaded iPods, complimentary ear plugs (to block out the noise of the tree frogs), home made cookies and a bottle of Chairman's Rum punch (the perfect sunset accompaniement). Food is a real feature here, with many dishes heavily influenced by the Cacao theme. Some may not be to everyone's taste, but many are a revelation. Cocktails too, have the same influence — think cacao bellinis and martinis. The lack of beach may be disappointing to those who like to dip a toe in the sea, but the hotel provides shuttles to and from the beach every day. If you can't be bothered to move from the hotel, take your book and chill out by the stunning black quartz infinity pool or indulge in a treatment at the Cocoa Rejuvenate Spa. Definitely find time for the Tree to Bar experience — it's hugely informative, you get to graft your own cocoa plant and then make your own chocolate!

The ebony-and-white rooms have vaulted ceilings, draped four-poster beds and really smart bathrooms. Best of all, they have head-on views of Petit Piton....

The 14 rooms have a modern, pared-down look: think white wooden walls, brown boarded floors, dark wood furniture, and arty prints of cocoa beans. There are lots of pleasing touches, from iPods loaded with Caribbean music...
