“A luxury boutique castle hotel, previously a holiday home, in the heritage bay of Lapad. Stunning rooms and suites, traditional in style with wooden beamed ceilings and attractive furnishings. Fantastic regional restaurant, pool and courtyard, and a speedboat to hire. ”

Hotel review

A cosy traditional hotel, just off the Lapad Marina, a ten-minute cab ride north of Dubrovnik’s old city, right by the Luka Gruz inlet. The perfect overnight stop after a sailing trip before your flight home, it’s a synch for a boat to drop you at the marina, take a couple of steps and you’re here! Planning-wise it’s a good bet is to see the old town early, then leave the guides and crowds behind to arrive at the arched entrance of this lovely hotel, once home to a noble Croatian family. The limestone courtyard is fabulous and the food here is delicious, so why not enjoy a shaded alfresco lunch surrounded by majestic stone urns and verdant orange trees. The pool and sauna, sited in the original garden are open all day, great to kick back, swim and enjoy a relaxing siesta. It's worth remembering that the pool bar is open from 1-6pm. There are twelve rooms and one suite. All are traditional in style, have wood flooring, warm wood furniture and richly coloured upholstery. The beamed attic rooms are spacious with high windows, so better to book a room on the first floor if you’re hoping for a view. The beds are large and comfy and the bathrooms fitted with every luxury including Tuscan soaps and lotions. The first-floor terrace overlooking the colourful marina and courtyard is the place for an evening cocktail, the service is immaculate, even the offer of a light blanket for a cool evening, perfect for chilly shoulders. Here boat watching is the favourite occupation from old fashioned ferry boats to state of the art luxury yachts. Limestone steps descend to the homely restaurant which is a great space, set beneath a vaulted brick ceiling with an intriguing chandelier. If you’re thinking family party or wedding, this hotel can be booked in its entirety and really would be a luxurious home from home.
