Heaped with awards, this is one of the best examples in the country of a genuinely family-friendly hotel that also works for couples. Set in its own estate, the former farmhouse, with a courtyard of lime trees and old barns, is praised for the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff, the quality of the country house-style bedrooms and of the spa and indoor pool, and the food. Not to mention the outdoor hot tub, next to a roaring log fire. Expensive but worth it: a stellar address amongst country house hotels, superbly run.

Why do people love staying in your hotel? With an indoor pool, secluded (lavender-lined) courtyard, hot tub and log fire, gymnasium and multiple treatment rooms stocked with the best therapists and the best products, Calcot Manor Hotel is renowned as one of the most luxurious spa hotels in Cotswolds. What is there to do in the area or on site? We have a spa onsite with an outdoor hot tub, gym, sauna, steam room and 7 treatment rooms. Horse riding can be arranged onsite. There are a few golf sites nearby as well as Westonbirt Arboretum. What kind of breakfast do you offer? Continental buffet as well as full English breakfast Do you offer other meals? And can you recommend good places to eat out locally? Lunch and dinner are offered in our two onsite restaurants The Gumstool Inn and The Conservatory Restaurant. Which are your most popular room types, and why? Deluxe Doubles which are spacious and family suites which have an extra sleeping area for children. What facilities do you have for children and can you fit extra beds in your rooms ? Certain family rooms have space for extra beds. The Playzone - Open every day (including the weekends) from 9:00am-12:30pm and 1:30pm-5:30pm, the secure, warm and spacious Playzone is fully-equipped with arts and crafts, and a huge range of stimulating things to do. It’s definitely a light and fun environment and helps to facilitate the (often) much-needed rest and child-free moments that you need to recharge and unwind. We recommend children are not left for more than two hours at a time so they can enjoy all the other areas of the hotel. The Mez - For children aged eight and over, The Mez is open 9:00am-12:30pm and 1:30pm-5:30pm and is situated on the first floor of The Playzone. It’s an Aladdin’s cave of entertainment, with PlayStations, Wii consoles, Xbox 360s, computers and even a 12-seater cinema. Children can (safely) surf the internet, relax, watch films, play games or just enjoy a bit of time away from Mum and Dad! What message would you like to give Hotel Guru readers? The Cotswolds are lovely! Tumbling hills, lavender horizons, wildlife, walks and waterparks – they’re all on offer, and what’s more, they’re all on the doorstep of Calcot Manor Hotel and Spa.
Hats off to this Tetbury country house for being so elegant and user-friendly..
