Hotel review

Utterly charming, perfectly quaint Colonel’s Retreat is a homely stay at your Aunt and Uncle’s house, in what can be an intimidating city. Arun and Suman are the perfect hosts and will happily sit down with guests at breakfast whilst advising them on their day’s activities. Rooms are no-nonsense with frills in all the right places. Good sized beds with comfortable mattresses, tea and coffee making facilities, with power showers and zesty complimentary toiletries. Colonel’s Retreat goes above and beyond as far as breakfast is concerned. Pots of coffee and masala chai whizz around the table, along with Indian breakfast “canapes”, just for you to try. Eggs to order accompany homemade breads and jams. Delicious. In the afternoon you’ll find afternoon tea (more delicious homemade baked goods) served on the terrace. A traditional Indian thali is available for lunch and dinner can be served on request, plus you’re walking distance from Defence Colony market, and a variety of shops and restaurants. A great place to base yourself from during your stay in Delhi.
