Hotel Review

The jungle neighbouring the Rio Grande is one of the natural highlights of Southern Belize; replete with a biodiversity found in few other parts of the world, it is a magical destination for rest, recuperation and exploration. Copal Tree Lodge is designed to give visitors a holistic experience of the jungle setting without damaging the natural landscape, all with the comfort of a luxury hotel. Guests can choose between suites in the Main Lodge or on a sister site a short walk away; the King Jungle Suites which are off-site offer generous living space and feel enveloped in the jungle, with a verandah boasting unspoiled views. They are the more economic choice for the location, but amenities are all within easy reach. For maximum luxury book the Signature Canopy Suite, which boasts stunning views from the Maya Mountains to the Caribbean Sea; take in the views from your private outdoor tub. The hotel's Garden Table is a relaxed dining experience where in-house chefs offer guests culturally significant dishes using locally sourced ingredients; there are great options here for guests with specific dietary requirements. There is a beautiful, pared back spa on-site as well as the charming Jungle Pool. In addition to the on-site facilities there are a plethora of packages you can book through the resort, from fly fishing to snorkelling and hiking through Mayan ruins. With a spectacular location and first-class facilities, a stay in this luxury lodge is a holiday you won't be quick to forget.

Copal Tree Lodge

The best of Belize converges in the remote Toledo District, where thick tangles of rainforest meet sparkling Caribbean waters, and Maya traditions meld with Garifuna, Creole, and other local cultures. Few places on the planet offer such astonishing diversity—and yet Copal Tree Lodge feels as if it’s tucked away at the end of the world.

How to Spend a Few Perfect Days in Belize

Check into a spacious tree-house-style suite at the eco-chic Copal Tree Lodge, which come with beds draped with mosquito nets, showers paved with river stones, and screened-in porches with hammocks and jungle views. Ask the staff for a farm tour to see the extensive gardens, where they source 70 percent of the food they serve in the restaurant and harvest cacao beans for the chocolate made on-site.
