Hotel Review
A stunning exclusive hideaway located on one of Paris’ most beautiful squares. This gorgeous 12 room (7 are suites) hotel is set within a 17th century building directly on the Place des Vosges and all the rooms have views over this iconic space. Each is individually decorated but the common theme is dusty blues, monochrome bathrooms, and tactile wooden finishings. A hessian screen turned headboard contrasts with a stunning stainless steel wall with fireplace feature. Original pieces of furniture are like artworks and rooms are filled with a personally curated collection of books and magazines — some first editions, some rare issues — all of which are evocative of the Places des Vosges' place in France's literary history. As an added bonus they don’t believe in mini-bars here…so there are crystal decanters filled with bourbon and vodka and a fridge filled with soft drinks/mixers to either accompany them or to sip separately. There’s also the treat of complimentary patisseries from pastry chef extraordinaire Yann Brys. Bathrooms are stunning, large spaces with deep metal soaking tubs and spacious walk in showers. Plus a gorgeous black marble sink. All accompanied by luxurious complimentary smellies (what else do you expect from a five star establishment?). The historic features of the property have not been overlooked; you’ll find exposed beams on the upper floors, terracotta tiled floors — a seamless blend of period and contemporary. The hotel is also crammed with original artworks, sculptures and tapestries. Downstairs in the basement is a hidden treasure; the roman bath! Staff describe it as an extension of your room, and it's accessible 24 hours a day. It’s a gorgeous vaulted space which becomes entirely private (no sharing here!) with a huge square whirlpool tub. The perfect space for some me-time after a frenetic day in the city! Service is discreet but attentive. This place is the one to book if you're looking for a slice of sophistication and exclusivity in the heart of one of Paris’s best neighbourhoods.
