“This achingly chic hotel in Manhattan’s SoHo district attracts celebrities and design addicts alike with its cool interiors by Kit Kemp. Despite the enviable location, it’s on a quiet street so you can leave the city chaos behind. Service is impeccable while still being relaxed. ”

Hotel review

Right at the heart of trendy SoHo’s creative hub is a hip hotel to suit. The Crosby Street Hotel is part of the Firmdale group, synonymous with a cool and relaxed, but run like a well-oiled machines, coupled with great design from the world renowned interior designer Kit Kemp. Her sense of colour and texture stamp the Crosby Street with a grown up feel. Entering the hotel Lobby, with its high ceilings and an installation sculpture of a head, you immediately pick up on the relaxed but efficient atmosphere. At one end is the guests’ drawing room with honesty bar, comfy sofas, large dog paintings; it perfectly conjures up the feel of an English drawing room. It’s a cosy and private space where guests can relax away from the general hubbub. There’s also a large outside terrace again exclusive for residents which would be heaven outside of winter. At the other end of the lobby is the dining room and bar again featuring those airy high ceilings - it’s a lively place and popular with both residents and locals alike. Other amenities include a private dining room and the icing on the cake is a 160 seater private cinema with a Sunday night cinema club. Rooms are normally refurbished every three years and so always look fresh. They come with everything you would expect of a top quality hotel: comfy beds, good lighting, plenty of cupboard space, well-appointed bathrooms (plenty of soaps and lotions and potions from Kit Kemp’s Rik Rak range). There’s a smell of success both in the hotel and amongst the guests, but it’s not self satisfied - the effort to create the Crosby Street is apparent but you just know that they have got it right. Stay here and you will be a convert to the Firmdale ethos.

Like its design-savvy British cousins, this hotel bears the stamp of co-owner Kit Kemp, whose imaginative combinations of fresh colours and textures, antique and contemporary furnishings lend its 86 rooms a quirky English edge.
