“A large stylish hotel in the heart of the city. Interiors have that classic Scandi-style mixed with a cool industrial feel. Offering an in-house cinema, spa, yoga studio and games room, to name just a few. A lively restaurant serves superb seasonal dishes and is popular with locals too. Fabulous.”

Hotel review

Downtown Camper by Scandic is one of the newest and most trendy signature hotels by the Scandinavia hospitality group to date. Located right in the heart of downtown Stockholm Downtown Camper brings an urban oasis in the once very quiet neighbourhood of Brunkebergstorg. Communal tables and social mingling invite guests to enjoy the social programs on offer (think yoga at 7am or cocktail night). Described as a social meeting point, the cool vibe and party-like interior surprisingly caters to guests ranging from their 30’s to old-timers in their 60’s. There are rooms which sleep up to 12 people and so you can imagine the vibe of the hotel seems somewhat like an upscale hostel – characteristic of the Scandic ‘cool’ hotel vibe they are known to execute so well. The modern yet playful interiors are inspired by nature and the concrete jungle surrounding it. The rooms and hotel in general are quite dark but the ‘entertainment amenities’ like the men’s barber shop, ping-pong tables and lounge area make up for it. Only one restaurant exists in the hotel: Campfire Restaurant is popular for locals, especially during lunch and leading up to pre-dinner drinks. Service is attentive and adds character to the buzzing restaurant. The menu rotates according to the seasons with the halibut a staple for the restaurant. The highlight of the hotel has to be the wellness centre, The Nest. Enjoy sweeping panoramas of the city from the 9th floor, infinity pool and luxurious sauna.

Map & Location

See what they say

Why do people love staying in your hotel? It’s a playground for adults. The daily activities offered for free, the rooftop cocktail lounge and the wellness area (for guests aged 16 and over), and the Lifestyle Concierges that help you find the very best hidden gems of Stockholm. What is there to do in the area? The location is smack in the city center, at Brunkebergstorg an up-and-coming neighbourhood just minutes away from the main shopping streets, the central station, museums and galleries, Old Town and the harbour. What kind of breakfast do you offer? The big breakfast buffet is always included in your room rate, and offers everything from freshly-baked bread, yoghurt, fruit salads, hot food and healthy options. There is also a dedicated table for gluten-, lactose free and vegetarian foods. Do you offer other meals? And can you recommend good places to eat out locally? Our own restaurant, Campfire, focuses on internationally inspired “comfort food” and grilled dishes (we Co2-compensate for all the meat we buy), and most options can be made vegan and/or vegetarian. We also have a rooftop cocktail lounge, serving smaller dishes, drinks and mocktails, with panoramic views of the city. Which are your most popular room types, and why? The most booked room type is probably the Spacious Double, for the space and the value for money, but the most talked-about rooms are the Camper Co-Living suites. They can be customized to fit 6-12 people. These rooms consist of a spacious main suite with dinner table and social area, and you connect double rooms to create something in-between a hotel room and an apartment. What facilities do you have for children and can you fit extra beds in your rooms ? For families with children we offer family activities on a daily basis, and the Game Room, with board games and shuffleboard. We also have a children’s menu in our main restaurant, Campfire. The Sunday Brunch & Games is a big family favourite; we serve a sumptuous buffet in Campfire with discounted prices for children, there are board games on every table so that you can challenge your family members is e.g chess or yatzi, and we also show movies in our cinema. What message would you like to give Hotel Guru readers? Downtown Camper is the ultimate basecamp to absorb Stockholm. A hotel for locals, travellers and urban explorers. Discover comfort food from all continents in Campfire, take a hike to the rooftop pool, kick back and reload before heading back out to the concrete jungle. Experience Stockholm like never before – our Lifestyle Concierge will connect you with our community of local personalities and partners. This is where the adventure begins.

Downtown Camper by Scandic

Another addition to the hip hotel hub on Brunkebergstorg Square in central Stockholm. Locally made kayaks, longboards and bikes are available to borrow from the lobby to experience the city up close, while a campfire, hammock and sleek cabins offer an escape from the city buzz.
