“Relaxed family-friendly eco escape. One can either stay in the eco tower, an eco villa or one of the magnificent marble-floored yurts surrounded by mango, banana and lime groves. The plethora of activities and proximity to the beach make it ideal for families or groups.”

Hotel review

This place is as far from shocking pink English hides and Irish bars as Lanzarote gets. A collection of marble-floored yurts and villas (powered by sun and wind) in a grove of mango, banana and lime trees, it’s eco-tourism at its best. Guests are encouraged to collect their own eggs for breakfast and help themselves to organic veg. Kids will love the play area, sunken trampoline and Mollie the donkey. Arrieta golden sand beach and village are a five-minute walk. Extras include honesty bar, holistic therapies and spa treatments.

Why do people love staying in your hotel? Our Eco - Retreat occupies 30,000 square metres of spectacular scenery with views bordered by the sparkling ocean to one side and the black volcanic mountains on the other. The estate, powered by the largest green energy system on the island, prides itself on offering ethically minded travellers the opportunity to enjoy a little luxury in their eco-lifestyle. Combine that with the charm of the nearby coastal village of Arrieta, the laid back atmosphere at the Finca offers any traveller the opportunity to discover an essence of the real Lanzarote. It is a unique place to stay on Lanzarote with all year round sunshine. What is there to do in the area or on site? On site we have a solar heated pool, play park, swing, trampoline, ping pong table, beach toys, surfboards, flotation toys for the pool, toy box and a number of pets including our resident Donkey. Within the area is the small village of Arrieta with La Garita Beach (great for boogie boarding and surfing) and some very good restaurants. Within a 5-10min drive are the Volcanic Green Caves (Cuevas de los Verdes) and also the stunning Jameos del Agua. Built within a lava bubble created by the volcano Mount Corona, Jameos del Agua was designed by the famous, late Lanzarote artist, Cesar Manrique. It has tropical gardens and a home to a rare species of blind, albino crab unique to Lanzarote. Within a 15 minute drive are the lagoons at Orzola which are great for families with small children. Orzola, the most northerly village on the island, is a 20minute drive away and from here you can catch the ferry across to the unspoilt island of La Graciosa. There are too many attractions to mention but all are within a 45 minute drive and include Fire Mountains, (Timanfaya National Park), Cactus Garden, El Golfo (The Green Lagoon), Mirador del Rio (fantastic viewpoint across to La Graciosa), Haria (the land of 1000 Palms), Teguise market (every Sunday), Bodega Hopping, Bird Watching, Catlanza Catamaran, Rancho Texas, Submarine Safaris! Plus the island is a great sports destination whether it be cycling, running, trekking, triathlons, surfing, wind surfing or kite surfing – all are catered for here. What kind of breakfast do you offer? We do not offer breakfast but we have a 24 hour Honesty shop stocking most essentials and we have fresh bread delivered every day. We also have our own hens so guests can collect their own eggs for breakfast. Do you offer other meals? And can you recommend good places to eat out locally? We don´t have a restaurant on site but we offer different options which vary throughout the year. At the moment we have a Guests meal on a Wednesday evening at the nearby restaurant on La Garita Beach and on a Friday we have a Thai night at the Finca itself. Which are your most popular room types, and why? We have 15 very different room types at the Finca ranging from smaller 12sq/m yurts (The Eco Chico Yurt) and varying in size up to the 83sq/m (Eco Yurt Royale). Plus stone cottages built from the local volcanic rock ranging from the studio Eco Tower to the 3 bedroom Eco Luxury Farmhouse with private pool. Out of these 15 properties, 9 of them come inclusive of stress free, VIP Return Airport Transfers where we meet guests personally from the airport and then once they have arrived, they have use of one of our Toyota Hybrid cars. This way we have something for each budget and it is difficult to say which one is the most popular as they all are! What facilities do you have for children and can you fit extra beds in your rooms ? Children love the Finca as we have plenty to keep them occupied ; solar heated pool, play park, swing, trampoline, ping pong table, beach toys, flotation toys for the pool, toy box, child’s step, plastic crockery, collecting eggs for breakfast and a number of pets including our resident Donkey. We can provide any extra z beds, cots, highchairs, car seats etc for the guests and all are free of charge. What message would you like to give Hotel Guru readers? That Lanzarote is unique place to stay. With a flight time from most UK airports of less than 4 hours and all year round sunshine, the island offers something for everyone.
