“An iconic 1920s hotel set in the heart of the city near Passeig de Gràcia. Interiors are elegant and classic with chandeliers, original paintings, and high ceilings. With several dining options and a luxury spa - this is a spoiling city stay.”

Hotel review

From the moment the liveried doorman greets you and you enter the stately marbled lobby of this imposing hotel, you’re transported to an old-style opulence so seldom seen today. Centrally located in the vibrant Eixample neighbourhood, it is just a couple of blocks from the Gothic Quarter. Past guests have included everyone from Miro and Madonna to McCartney - and that’s just some of the ‘M’’s. The huge great hall, with its Versailles-style ornate furniture, huge drapes and swirling carpets, attests to the hotel’s origins as a Ritz in 1919. The dark and atmospheric basement speakeasy, Amar restaurant headed by former El Bulli Head Chef Rafa Zafra, and sprawling roof terrace and pool are further thrills. Staying is certainly a rare and luxurious treat, but not for those craving modernity or for being bang on trend.
