Hotel Review

Finca la Ramallosa typifies an idyllic rural stay, showcasing the best of Sierra de Gata Spanish hospitality. Five gorgeous farm workers’ houses make up an abandoned hamlet over 150 years old and have been lovingly restored to retain original features such as high wooden beamed ceilings, stone floors and fireplaces. Bedrooms lead out to lovely sitting rooms with open fires, and each is delightfully decorated with quirky antiques and locally made furniture. The old barn has been converted into the restaurant where you can sample traditional and delicious local recipes made with home grown organic vegetables and the free range meat from the farm, and take a cooking course. With 130 hectares, there’s endless entertainment on the farm, (a mixture of dehesa, olive and oak groves, meadows and ponds), so take time to explore it on bicycle, foot or horse back - you can even go hunting. Take a picnic to the nearby Erjas river or to the Roman ruins of Salvaleón, and keep your eyes peeled for golden eagles. The place oozes charm and authenticity, and is simple rustic living at its best.
