“A salt of the earth plantation retreat in lush jungle south of Soufriere. Secluded cottages with fourposter beds, private terraces and plunge pools are dotted amongst the cocoa and cinnamon trees. The food is authentic and hearty and the spa offers volcanic mud wraps. An eco-honeymooners dream.”

Hotel review

A charming retreat for those that want to see the real St Lucia. This is a labour of love project by local couple Eroline and Lyton Lamontagne, and you can feel the love. Rustic-plantation chic is the vibe, the odd bit of paint is peeling but you are staying in a canopied bed on a working jungle farm. The plantation produces cocoa, bananas, coffee and cinnamon as well as having an incredible range of birds, flowers and ferns. It is Green Globe certified and the cascading swimming pools add a touch of luxury. There aren't any restaurants nearby, so though they offer shuttles to the beach and volcano, we would recommend a car least you get tired of the delicious but slightly limited menu.

"Coated in cocoa, nutmeg and breadfruit trees, thick swathes of palms, bananas and bamboo, and sprinkled with exotic flowers, the hilly, 135-acre, 250-year-old, bird-rich property is overpoweringly beautiful."
