Hotel Review

As you turn off the road and up the loose gravel driveway (is there a more 'English countryside' sound effect?) Fosse Farmhouse has all the hallmarks of your traditional village B&B; however this property has a unique tale to tell. Unbeknown to Caron, its vivacious owner, her little guesthouse was the inspiration behind one of Japan's most popular anime TV series. Cue the hordes of Japanese fans wanting to see this iconic property and village in its original setting. However Caron is no stranger to the limelight and has been on several cookery shows and written books on "English Country Living". The proof really is in the pudding in this case, and her freshly baked scones with clotted cream and jam are something to write home about. As is the Full English. Delightful rooms, comprised of B&B and self-catering accommodation are spread throughout the main house and three outbuildings. Decorated in English Vintage and French Brocante style, much of which is available to buy, rooms have a cosy feel. There is also a charming sitting room, which often has a crackling fire going as well as communal dining room and breakfast room. Even the kitchen is picture perfect. You are well positioned for exploring the local area. Castle Combe, awarded "England's Prettiest Village" and the set for War Horse and Harry Potter to name but a few, is but a 30 minute walk away. You will also find some lovely pubs and a tea room here. Further afield Bath, Bristol and even Stone Henge are all within an hour's drive. Well behaved dogs are allowed at a small cost. A wonderful stay for couples or families!
