Hotel Review
Once a thoroughly dated and dowdy affair, the transformation of this fifties-era property by its Swedish husband-and-wife owners has been dramatic. Reminiscent of a grand Mediterranean villa, while its imposing stone facade has remained largely unchanged, inside is a playfully vivacious melange of funky retro furnishings, colourful contemporary artworks, and unmistakeably Scandinavian chic. But its the setting that really steals the show, positioned right in the middle of Soller's sweeping bay and overlooking its scenic beachfront promenade. Most of the vintage-chic guest rooms too take full advantage of the fabulous situation, opening to Juliette balconies or terraces with lovely sea views; others overlook a quiet terraced garden. The two outdoor swimming pools reflect the mix of clientele, with one family-friendly and the other adults-only – with an infinity-edge for more fabulous bay vistas. A deluxe spa with heated indoor pool provides another serene child-free space, while the bistro's street-front terrace makes for a fine spot to watch the world go by – as well as the town's iconic wooden tram.
